This year Maplewood Green Day will be held Saturday, October 10th 2009, rain or shine at Memorial Park (which is in front of town hall). It starts at 11:30 am and the closing ceremony will be at 3:30pm. Governor Corzine will be attending between 12pm & 1pm.
My top picks from the brochure for Saturday are:
- Between 1pm-2:30pm A special screening of “Who Killed the Electric Car” will be held. The movie is a must see and explains the development of energy efficient vehicles in our country.
- At 12:30 & 2:30pm Cook Solar Smores. Need I say more?
- At 2:30 “Don’t Scrap those Windows.” Paul Lewis from the Maplewood Historic Preservation Commission will be presenting on how residents can preserve their windows at low cost. Fixing windows reduces energy costs. Residents looking to cut costs don’t want to miss this activity.
I’ve attended previously and had a great time. Activities run throughout the day. There will be vendors selling environmental goods & services, the Maplewood Garden Club will give away free plants and seeds, bike safety checks…& a bike swap, plus much more!
